I submitted an application to volunteer for the 'PMP Testers Needed for Interactive Training Tool' from the list of opportunities available from Project Management Institute's (PMI®) Volunteer Relationship Management System

I'd like to hear the experiences of active volunteers during the application process and the appraisal of the whole activity

Hi Eduard,
Indirect answer: i found volunteering to assist in the local pmi chapter activities (in this case, symposium) fulfilling in terms of helping local colleagues and building a network of friends. It was pleasurable working with similar PM skilled peers; the common language and mutual respect was fun.

Waiting for my turn. Submitted an application for volunteering from chapter website, none contacted so far (in this case, chapter events).

In the VRMS, when you apply for a vacancy, there is usually a description of the role, including the person responsible (name / email) and the end date for applications. When applications are closed, people responsible for posting that vacancy / role will select applications based on the criteria mentioned in the role description. Once someone is selected, he/she receives an automated email to Accept the position. After the vacancy is filled, all the non-selected applicants receive an automated email thanking them for applying.

Being selected depends on the role, because some of them have lots of applicants. But it also depends on fulfilling the selection criteria.

Don't be upset if you were not selected. Try other roles. That would be my suggestion.

Thank you for posting the question, Edward, as I plan to apply for the same volunteer position. It appears that some prior chapter volunteer experience would be favorable to my potential success in being selected.
Therefore, I am planning to wait until I can begin a volunteer assignment with my local PMI chapter before completing and submitting my application to VRMS to be a PMP tester.

I've applied for one, and I was selected. First time.

After few days of made my application (via VRMS) , I've received a confirmation mail that I was in.

By the way, some volunteer opportunities are confidential, my recommendation is don't share the kind of opportunity that you've applied before to have more information about it.
