4-6 weeks is what worked for me. This included: -
a) Pre read PMBOK
b) Training from a certified institute
c) Post reading of PMBOK
d) supporting books like Rita Mulcahy
e) Online practice exams

You do not need to take training from an institute. What you need is: 1-understanding all related to certification mainly the handbook. 2-understanding the PMBOK. 3-look lot of exam situational questions and understanding the dynamic to answered them. 4-make lot of exam situational questions. When you get 75%-85% accurancy then you are ready.

Mohamed, goal based study approach is also beneficial for the PMP exam.

The best way is
1. Study period: Review PMBOK and other material to understand the PMI process
2. Exam preparation: need to practice more and more is the simple answer
3. Duration: it’s always based on your pace and availability, I spend 3 hrs daily/ 4 months.

I will recommend studying for 3-6 months, a minimum of 3 months using the following
1. PMBOK
2. Rita Mulcahy's PMP Text
3. Solve loads of test questions (This helps A LOT!) I personally recommend "CertGear" for practice http://www.certgear.com/products/info/pmp.htm

You need to read PMBOK seriously and practice a lot using online tests, Mobile apps etc. For certain topics refer Rita's book. You need to make a strategy once you complete PMBOK first.

Hi,

You would need 3 things to ace PMP:
1. A 35 contact hour training
2. A PMP reference book
3. A PMP exam simulator

**35 Contact Hour Training**
You can get PMP training in 3 different modes:
1. Regular classroom training
2. Self-learning online training
3. Instructor-led online training

*Classroom Training*
The price and availability of the classroom courses varies with the region. The classroom courses are generally available only in the big cities. You can check on Internet is there is a PMP training provider in your region. You should check the credibility of trainer before choosing a course.
I think one must give more priority to trainer than to the institute. An aspirant remains in contact with the trainer for 4 days, institute has very little role during these 4 days. If the trainer is not good then 4 days and the money goes waste. So, find out few good trainers, look at their linkedin profiles and talk to them. If the trainer’s feedback is not good, it is better to go for an instructor-led online training.

*Online Training*
I have done a comparison of popular online training courses - both self-learning courses and instructor-led courses. Out of these self-learning courses are cheapest.

If you are looking for a self-learning option, you should read comparison of popular self-learning online PMP training courses (Best Online Training Course (http://www.pmbypm.com/best-pmp-online-training-course/). It will help you in determining which is the best one for you. You can get an self-learning course for a very little price. For complete recommendation and prices, you should check the above article.

On the other hand, if you are looking for an instructor led option, then You can read comparison of popular instructor-led online PMP training courses here - (Best Instructor-Led Online PMP Training Course (http://www.pmbypm.com/best-instructor-led-...ning-course/)))

**PMP Reference Book**
A training can kick-start the things but a PMP reference book is important part of the preparation. A book would be your constant study companion so you should choose it well. I have written an article with the title as Best PMP book (Which is the Best PMP Book? Head First vs. Rita Mulcahy vs. Kim Heldman vs. Andy Crowe (http://www.pmbypm.com/best-pmp-book-head-f...im-heldman/))). It provides a comparison of 4 popular PMP books. You can read the article to determine which the best book for you. Different people have different learning styles. So what may be good for others, may not be suitable for you.

**PMP Exam Simulator**
Lastly, you would need a good exam simulator towards the end of your preparation. I have written an article to do a detailed comparison of 6 popular PMP exam simulators. You can read and find out the best one - (Best PMP Exam Simulator (http://www.pmbypm.com/best-pmp-exam-simulator/))

All the best.
