I think motivation comes from emotions itself, and emotion have greater role in overcoming obstacle. Person who has will find all possible way to achieve goals.

Emotions positively or negatively influence each other in a team. The feelings as joy, sadness, and frustration are contagious.
From my point of view, as leaders we should project positive emotions.
Managing emotions will improve productivity; achieve greater profitability, and we will get a team of happy people.

"Ideally" they're inseparable... If you're not connected emotionally to a project, you might be motivated by the wrong reasons (money instead of passion).
In my experience positive emotion motivate the team members. And negative emotion have a mix result, but most often negative. People would disengage, look for an other job or not be fully productive.

Your emotions and motivation guides your entire day and directly affects your productivity. Just think about a days when you are going along, getting things done. Then somebody says something to upsets you. How long does it take to recover and get back on track?
As a manager, you need to do your best to "protect" your people from be de-motivated.
