The Catch-22 - going for the Agile cert, currently working in a non-agile environment

I'm interested in going for the agile certification through PMI but I don't have the 8 months of direct project experience with a strictly agile team. My experience would qualify as more 'rogue developer' I suspect... Other than getting a new job, does anyone see a way to legitimize non-strictly agile project experience for the agile cert?

Hi Daniel,

have you ever thought about gaining the needed experience via volunteering?
PMI do offer regularly options therefore.

Regards,

Markus
I hadn't thought about the volunteering experience counting... just looked into it.

The prerequisites are quite clear for the ACP:

[...] 1,500 hours working on agile project teams or with agile methodologies. This requirement is in addition to the 2,000 hours of general project experience. [...]

You can find it here: http://www.pmi.org/certifications/types/agile-acp

So you need agile experience, it just doesn't matter where you gained it. ;)
Thanks Christina -- will reconsider how my hours are being counted.

That is because you have to read and understand the handbook. The handbook, as far as I remember, say nothing about your experience has to be in agile environments. By the way, just a comment: in my opinion, this is the only certification where, if you do not have practical experience in agile environemtns, is hard to obtain. But is my opinion only.
Thx Sergio -- appreciate your input.
