Thanks Rami...It is very important to start immediately as suggested. This will not only help to maintain the PMP status but help to stay relevant with the profession and increase one's PMP knowledge and skills.

Immediately. In fact, if you have previously earned enough credits before the exam and you take a prep course, you can count that toward your PDUs.

Dear Alan,
Thanks for the information.
I did a certification prior to writing the PMP exam, I hope this can be relevant to claim PDU?
Start now! ProjectManagement.com is the best way to earn PDUs. You can register for live webinars or watch on-demand webinars at your own pace.
According to the PMI CCR Handbook, "If you earn more than the required PDUs in your CCR cycle, you may apply a portion of the PDUs to your next cycle. Only PDUs earned in the final year (12 months) of your certification cycle can be applied to a future cycle."
Thanks for the information, this is very important to stay certified, one need to earn and report professional development units (PDUs.)

Hello,
a lot of PMP credential holders do wait with earning and/or claiming there PDUs early on ... that might be a mistake.
You should just start now and look for options to earn your PDUs continuously.
If you just do focus on development of your knowledge and your skills the PDUs came flying by.
You have a ton of options for earning PDUs and learning something here on pm.com.
Those who waiting will be surprised some time .."oh just a few weeks left for maintaining my credential ..." and than they come in stress and getting trouble and may even spend a lot of many to buy a PDU package or whatever ...
You should plan and - just start right now - (how) to earn your PDU’s for re-certification.
First Step: Review the official PMI-site about earning and claiming your PDU’s: http://pdu.pmi.org/
Second Step: Review these links about how to maintain your credential:
? How To Maintain Your PMP Certification in 3 Easy Steps ?
Finally here are our recommendations for earning your PDU’s:
A very good opportunity to earn PDU’s with less effort and – more important! – on a regular basis is the PDU-Podcast by the PrepCast-Crew:
If you already a member of PMI, than you are automatically a PREMIUM Member at project magement.com also! Did you know that?! And therefore you have the option to earn free Category A PDU’s at project management.com just by watching their webinars and other material.
? (source: http://www.projectmanagement.com/membership/premium.cfm)
Since a regular pm.com Premium Membership is at cost of 249$/Year and a PMI Membership costs only 129$/Year this is a great benefit (and there is a ton of helpful material at pm.com like thousands of templates, presentations, articles and so on …)
Another great option is to earn PDU’s just to continue earning certifications like the ACP-Exam for instance; this would provide you 37 PDU’s towards your PMP Re-Certification; that is more than the half you need and fully aligned to the upcoming CCR Changes in this December!:
Please don't hesitate to ask if there are any further questions.
Best of luck!
Markus
