Hello Everyone

Does anyone have some templates or writings on a project approach to setting up a large corporate division? Normally I would start from a business plan or business case. However in this situation, almost everything was handled informally so there is little o fthe hard documentation you would expect in a business case or plan.

Anybody have any suggestions, templates or references?

Many thanks

It makes most sense to start with a well-written business plan. If you don't have that, how do you know the purpose of the division, the goals, products, competition, customers, market, risks, budget, milestones, needs, wants, etc. Informal plans need to be defined on paper and agreed to by all parties involved. A business plan is not much different that a well-written project plan. My suggestion, start writting and review the plan with all of the stakeholders. Informal plans usually lead to dead-end or worse yet a disaster. By now you're probably saying I didn't need you to tell me that, but I don't know of another way to proceed for success.

Jeffrey:

Joseph McDowell is correct, you 1st need a comprehensive business plan followed by a Strategic IT Plan in support of the corporate business plan. I've attached a Strategic IT Plan template for your use, the file is in Acrobat PDF format. I can also provide you with a business plan outline if you email me directly.

Jeffrey, while the attached business plan outline is designed to raise capital, you'll at least get an idea to is the process and content of a business plan.
