What are some basic/high-level IT courses I can take to become a more technical PM? I deal a lot with DBs, Network/environment configuration issues, VB and Java coding, etc. Is there 1 course that covers the gamut of these technical activities that a non-hands on/somewhat technical PM can benefit?
Again, I don't want to take the "How to program Enterprise Straight Through Processing" technical course - ...Can anyone advise? Saving Changes...

Companies like PCI-Global, ESI and American Management Association have courses in introductory Project Management that focus on management of people to get things done, rather than the technical side of things. Any decent project management 101 course should not focus on technique but rather on the issues the PM faces and how to deal with them. Do a catalog search for the type of course you want in these organizations or a local business school. Good luck and enjoy the learning! Saving Changes...
In addition to what Frank has offered, I would recommend sepnding some time with the technical resources on your project(s). Cross-functional exchange enhances communication and trust. Although I would never discourage anyone from taking standards specific education for in-depth knowledge, sometimes the best resources for exposure or training is right under our noses. It starts with PMBOK in the first quarter and then has courses in MSProject, Management Systems, Budgeting, Human Resources, Legal, and others.
