To build a function house (career path) for project managers, how?

Do you know if there are any guidelines or world wide standards to build a function house for project manager (career path).
In other words to outline the different kind of grades (from associate, project manager, senior project manager to pricipal project manager) against the associated competentes/skills.

Thank you Anupam Ganguly,
I have looked at it and it does talk about career paths, but what i mean was are there guidelines and/or examples of function houses for project manager.
A matrix with grades and associated competences and skills.
