better understand that delivery of change with some form of structure is better then none if better outcomes are to be achieved ?
after many years in change delivery its a common theme and experience I see and hear about across industries that there is a always a challenge in helping senior leadership across firms understand the value of an appropriate level of structure to implementing change and that the true value it can bring.... would be keen to understand peoples thoughts on the subject .. To understand all related to change is so simple than to understand Newton´s Laws of Movement. On the other side, you can complement it by undestanding that reality is a matter of perception, where you will go to quatum mechanics. Returning to the terrenal world you can use techniques like "Solution Selling" or "SPIN Selling" to work with the stakehodlers in order to demostrate that they will be more rich with the change than without it, where rich does not mean more money only. Look for the personal agendas that are either supporting or blocking what needs to be done and if possible, link them to the benefits of change. Saving Changes...
- Collect quantitative evidences: When the absence of change management in your Organisation had bad consequences (e.g. number of releases that had to be rolled back, number of customer complaints, additional cost). Evidences are hard to deny.
- Define scope, start small and escale efficiently your Change Management process, tools and resources. Although some parts of your Organisation and Management might already realice the benefits of proper Change Management, they could be concerned about the administrative overhead i.e. if it is too cumbersome, people might still bypass the official process even it they are fully aware of the process and if it is fully supported by your Management Saving Changes...
I see where one young boy has just passed 500 hours sitting in a treetop. There is a good deal of discussion as to what to do with a civilization that produces prodigies like that. Wouldn't it be a good idea to take his ladder away from him and leave him up there?
