Influence Rating

Hello Everyone.

Quick question. Over the last week or so, I have been increasingly more active in the community. Mostly engaging with community members via discussion threads and commenting on various blogs, and more recently posting a couple topics myself and starting my own blog. All good there, and happy to be as active as possible.

The question is with my influence rating. It has remained constant. To add to it, a couple days back, when I first signed on, it had increased to 61, then reverted back immediately. Then just this morning, when I logged on, it was at 63, and again, left and returned to my profile screen, only to see it back to 58 again.

Has anyone else experienced this odd behavior. Not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things, and certainly not the only reason I'm active, but nonetheless, I would like the number to accurately reflect my status.

Thanks for reading.

I was only worried about the influence to had the opportunity to open a blog...now, sincerely I don't mind if it goes up or down, I don't see (today) any benefit for it...

Did you observe something special linked to the Influence?
I agree, on benefit part of it.

Hi Andrew!

I agree with Sonali and I think that when you enter and it doesn't contribute, the algorithm calculate your influence to down.

Don't worry about it. I see your comments in the posts, and they are relevant. That's what matters!

Good to learn about influence. I am pretty new to this forum and did not know if any benefit was linked to the influence score? Mine is def'y lower because I am fairly new, however, I did not pay attention to it.

I agree Anupam Ganguly: "Don't worry on the influence score. Keep the good things coming!"

Hi Andrew: Thank you for asking this question as I have never been clear on how the Influence rating works. I've experienced the very same things you have described, but have decided to keep doing the right thing and hope the influence score will follow :)

Influence scores are very oddly calculated. if I look at the top influencer in the community, he has fewer contributions (five times) than me, and fewer badges. Somehow, I'm stuck oscillating between 93 and 94 for the past six months. I briefly hit 95 more than six months back for a week and then dropped back again.

Who knows...

It has remained the biggest mystery to date here!

I'm still here everyday, maybe only one or two contributions each day, and still not enough to maintain a score.

Just a recognition , not a complaint.

Keep on contributing!
