Has anyone taken MS Project 2002 Professional and Server 2002 training? if so where/ by who and would you recommend it? I am tasked with rolling out Project 2002 at the enterprise level. Any thoughts? Saving Changes...
Back in March of this year, I began to investigate the transition process for getting from an older release of MSPROJ to the 2002 version.
There are several white papers on the MS web site that talk about transition plans and issues that will come up depending on what features of the new product you are planning to take advantage of. In addition, I have written and delivered two different Project Management techniques training courses in the past, so my plan was to begin building a third one specifically dealing with the issues surrounding the activation of this new product.
Some of those questions would be:
Have you already identified what your sponsors are expecting to get from the implementation of this product?
Are you replacing / upgrading from a prior release? And how well was that one used?
Are your current project managers well trained and experienced in the work of managing projects? Are they certified through PMI or some other Project Management agency?
Do you have a PMO in place who has established PM Standards and are they properly enforced?
Please let me know if you would like to discuss this further.
Chris, I realize this may be too late but I am attending an introduction to MS Project Server 2002 in Grand Rapids, Michigan on May 21st. This is a joint venture with the PMI chapter and Sagestone (www.sagestone.com). I also hope to take the newest Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) exam for Project 2002 by the end of the month. You can follow up with me after the class at [email protected]. Saving Changes...
Chris, I recently attended 5 days of Microsoft Project 2002 training consisting of Project 2002 Core and Project 2002 Expert. This training was conducted by Project Assistants in Atlanta, Ga (www.projectassistants.com). Since the course actually tied PMI best practices with the tool (PMI registered Education Provider)the training was well worth the money spent. Additionally, the educational material was first rate and well written. Project files were provided on a Disk (Student Keeps)which supported self study and practice when I returned to the office. I attended a 3 day workshop sponsered by Microsoft, given by one of the developers for MSP 2002. I believe that they list several workshops on thier website. Saving Changes...
