Hi PM gurus..

I am looking for a specific application. Currently I have this implemented in a very rudimentary format in google spreadsheets with a lot of manual copy paste. I am trying to find out whether such an application already exists so I don’t have to actually code more on Google spreadsheets/excel to build this. (I know I am lazy ?)

1.dashboard google spreadsheet
a. The goal of this spreadsheet is to collect data from lower spreadsheets and plot charts/calculate higher level functions.
b.This google spreadsheet should have the ability to pull data from multiple sources (apps, fitbit, mint etc). Ideally this shouldn’t require any manual entry at all.
c.This spreadsheet has a master project list and subproject list. It queries the lower spreadsheets to find out the amount of resources being used for any of the projects. This is then used to track the progress of the project as a function of time.
2. The lower spreadsheets
a.Weekly spreadsheet
i. Weekly spreadsheet pulls data from from daily templates and presents the amount of resources planned for and actually utilized for any particular project
ii.Daily spreadsheet
1.This spreadsheet contains the various projects and sub-projects currently being pursued. At the beginning of the week, the user assigns how much resources will be assigned to any project/sub-project. On a daily basis, the user enter the amount of resources consumed for various projects and subprojects from his her android mobile phone or windows laptop.

The reason I wrote it as google spreadsheet above is because that’s how its currently implemented, as a google spreadsheet with a lot of manual entry. However I am open native applications as well. I realize this maybe a rudimentary application, but to me this sounds similar to project management even though its at a much smaller scale. So I thought perhaps this already exists, and I wont have to build this from scratch, which will take a lot of time and resources.

Thanks for your help

Amy

Most project management tools can provide you the features you are looking for, Amy. The problem won't be the tool so much as the conversion effort.

If you want to get your toe into the waters of PM tools, you can try Projectlibre. It is free and compatible with MS Project.

Thanks Stepahne for replying.

Yes.. I realize that there will be some conversion effort, but this is a long term project so I am willing to put in the effort.

Do you know whether ProjectLibre or MS project has the capability for the User to enter resources uses using a mobile device instead of a laptop?

Other than these two what are the most popular project management apps?

I would be happy to pay for a flexible app, if necessary.

Both offer a cloud-based solution, Amy. That allows you to at least use your mobile device's browser. I suggest you check them for proprietary mobile app support. There are other cloud-based solution out there you might want to look into.
