What's the best strategy to improve sour communications?

Let's say you did something unintentionally that soured relations between you and another stakeholder. You need to continue to work with this person, but they stop responding to your emails, texts, etc. Is confronting the person about the problem the best approach?

Meet with this person face to face. Discuss with him or her what happened and clear the air. Sometimes you have to swallow some problems and let go for the sake of the job.
