Great question, David! When I started the People and Projects Podcast in 2009, I had no idea how much I would be student #1. It gave me an excuse to read a couple books each month, which ends up being a lesson in itself: find a way to make learning a habit. Listening to books or podcasts during commutes is a way to multiply time.

Thanks Gillian,

What a great piece of advice! . Indeed that’s a step forward and further. Being a mentor of a group of people with different expertise and help them has to be absolutely rewarding. I commit myself to mentoring a group of professional this upcoming year.

I surround myself with other Project Managers within the company and learn from them. I ask questions to them as to how they handled certain situations and what they wish they knew first off that would help improve them. I am also throwing myself into much more Project Management education that I can to ensure I am staying up to date on the latest information that comes out.

That is a very good idea Kimberly. Unfortunately we dont have a PM dept within the company, at least not yet. I want to position myself to be the first to get involved the the opportunity presents itself. So what I decided to do is to join the local PM chapter and signed up to become a mentee and immerse myself in the culture.
