When managing a project, portfolio or program we have to size the project team. According to your experience, concerning engineering projects, what is the capacity of investment of each team member - eg. US$ millions of investment per team member per year.

It is very difficult to give a specific figure as it differs from one project to another and from one post to another.

Perhaps I did not understand your question. The way to create the team and decide of the number of team members is to assign human resources to activities. That´s all.

Each resource is billed based on experience, skill and nature of role. These figure change as per project, process and organization.

Thank you Rami, Sergio, Anupam. Some companies have average figures for that. With this information, for example, they might know that for an annual capital investment budget of US$ 60 million, they expect to need a team of 20 people (US$ 3 million per person). That figure is based on historical experience. This kind of information that I am looking for!

It depends on company/Org (competition and reputation) , For example: An Engineer with same skill set will be paid/charged differently in different companies

I first believe the industry will make a huge difference.
How many people for a 40M$ construction project? and for a software project?

For each industry/type of project you could average a number of ressource per M$. That doesn't replace a evaluation the team from human ressource assign to activities.
