In my view I am listing out the factors which are attributable to claims in Construction projects :

1. Scope of work and specifications
2. Design factors and site conditions
3. Procurement clauses & Contract conditions
4. Interface with other projects
5. Quality
6. External factors ( stakeholders)
7. Social /welfare measures related to project area
8. Unknown Risks associated with project execution
9. Safety , Health and Environment

Dear Manavasi,

Thank you for introducing common factors to the construction claims.
It may be duplicated from the list you mentioned above, "site possession" might be one of big issues from the contractor's perspectives and may be from the owner's perspective too.

Thanks . Yes timely handing over of site will avoid time and cost over run claims arising out of delays in possession of site. Weather is a risk factor and interpretation of admissibility of claims due to weather conditions depends upon contract provisions.

Hi Manavasi,

Your list is inclusive of most of the things that might cause claims but in practical world, everything can cause a claim in construction.

Agree, In construction (in mostly any project) everything and anything can justify a claim.

In most case due to some gray zone in the contract. Unclear who is responsible for this or that.
