Business Objects has been a leader in report-and-query and ad-hoc analysis and their acquisition of Crystal has strengthened this position as Crystal is universally popular and adds relational production reporting capabilities to Business Objects. This makes for a strong combination in BI for Business Objects. Cognos is stilled viewed by many to be stronger in terms of budgeting and consolidation capabilities. You might call BO and Cognos, sit through a demo, and ask them for what they believe to be their broader points of comparison. BO requires lots of maintenance.
Cognos requires lots of effort to build the cubes.
MicroStrategy is easy to maintain, uses cached ROLAP, and has the least number of interfaces. Saving Changes...
