Great question Maria. I think new amendments should be made. Culture has emerged as a big topic of debate over years. Another topic is women empowerment. The new amendment should focus on these areas.

Looking at the discussion again, I'm not sure about empowering women should be part of the code of Ethic.
Local laws and culture are making this append, maybe not has fast everywhere.
The code of ethic is about applying good practice of project management for the organisation and the client, could include something about human ressource,
I still believe it should be revisited periodically.

I think to should be revisited at every revision of the PMBOK. I think that mean about every 4 years.
Revisiting the Code of Ethic should let people evaluate the need for a revision. And you could put an note concerning the fact that it was revisited. Saving Changes...

Many people might feel it is necessary to update the 2006 version and I agree with the others' opinions generally. But I feel antiquated ones may not need always to be updated in case it's still effective.

I know somebody will hate me. But please, understand the context. The problem is: the code of conduct has been created as part of you need to define a pseudo-profession. But it has no sence in the practice. The code that has sence is the code that just in case the project manager not fullfil the organization can take legal actions against the project manager. That is what you see in medicine for exmple. And that is because medicine is a formal profession. On the other side, ethic is an ancient debate. Most of the organizations have code of ethics in place and you have to perform an annual certification to learn, understanding and adhere to that code.

I may not understand fully on what you truly intend to comment on the code of ethics and professional conduct. But in my opinion, PMI's code of ethics and professional conduct might be applied to only project management practitioners and community related to PMI's credentials or volunteers Each organization might have its own procedures to deal with violation of organization's code of ethics and conduct, and each organization might take disciplinary action based on its procedures.
