Hi Joanne, there are a number of very good BI vendors and products. BI, of course, is not new. It has been around for 30 years, called by different names - ad hoc query, reporting, data analysis, information delivery, etc. And BI can mean different things to different people - CFO, Sales VP, Head of Manufacturing, etc. Most any CIO would have a broad understanding of BI, I would think. Information Builders has been a pioneer and leader in BI. You might take their 20 page BI brochure per the link below and net out a 3 or 4 slide summary. If your CIO wants more than just a brief overview, IBI would be happy to give him a 30 minute Executive Overview on BI and answer any and all questions.
