It’s common saying everywhere ‘Leaders lead by example’, but there are times when the example that leaders set are not good for the project and team.
The challenge is no one open up and question the leadership. I would like to know how to overcome such situation, and bring to notice that not all examples are really great.
Thanks

Naomi,
2016 has seen a lot of leadership topics with more or less the same message: How to get away from command&control. While this is important, it is kind of a prerequisite. So then what are the next steps? How do you get your team to the next level of performance? How do you achieve focus, inspiration, innovation, embracing change? Just by mentoring/coaching or is there more you can do?

Leadership is always about leading and getting things done, we use word leadership in context with change agent and bringing change against resistance and challenging conditions. Leader is a person who can overcome resistance and allow change to take place and make realize betterment & benefit of change. A leader is a person who must have clear vision of goal and its associated benefit which other cant see. He must have understanding how people will perceive new idea and what kind of questions and fear will come out of it. He must be in a position to answer these questions and overcome fears and make others to feel how new world will look like after change. He must demonstrate a prototype of benefits for acceptability and before a big change can be implemented. Leader is a person who can understand problem in totality and convert big problem into small pieces which can be understand and resolved faster and join small solutions together to provide a bigger solution or change. A leader is a person who is combination of vision, resource management, execution and demonstration.

First challenge is how to develop a clear vision about problem and feasible solution, next challenge how to convince people at higher and lower level to get their support and collecting resources to execute task. Most difficult part for any leader is to handle people and lot of leaning is required on people management part.
I would like to hear what is an 'Ideal Leader' is like for you and others.

Unfortunately, what you need to get a promotion is not always what makes you a great, or extraordinary, leader.
Leadership skills are pretty broad but I would expect an extraordinary leader to make people feel valued. She would be a great communicator and have a vision that appeals to others.

Stephane: Great idea for a discussion on how women and men lead differently and what each brings to the table for collaborative leadership. A leader of any gender should have a mix of skill-sets, characteristics and vision that brings value to the organization and employees they choose to lead.
Also, another great topic on careers for those at entry level, transition to new role for promotion or a new role in a different industry with transferable skill-sets.
