Saurabh and Sergio are correct, communication is key. You have to use every means at your disposal - meetings, emails, chat, phones, video - to promote as much real-time communication as possible.
Where it gets more difficult is when the virtual team is spread across a lot of time zones. If you can, try to designate a lead per time zone. Otherwise, it can be dificult managing directly a 24-hour a day team. Saving Changes...
