Artificial intelligence, augmented reality, blockchain, drones, Internet of Things (IoT), robots, virtual reality and 3D printing are the eight technologies that will most affect business by 2020.
These innovations are being considered as the most strategic to transform Business in the next four years. In this scenario we will see how Industria 4.0 will impact the Business Analysis and the role of the Project Manager.

The impact mostly will depend on the type of project and industry. Those technologies will prove if they add value to business down the road probably in couple of years time.

Those technologies will not impact business analysis and project manager roles. What could impact are the initiatives where business analyst and project manager could be assigned. But it is not the same. The subject matter experts on those technologies will be there and business analyst and project managers must have knowledge about those technologies but not be subject matter experts.
Fully endorsed. This common perception about Project Manager is really effecting Project Management Practitioners. Expecting project manager as Subject Matter Experts (SME) is on other end negligence of project management itself. If project manager is expected to be SME and perform SME role then who will perform PM role. In such cases project management itself is compromised and lead to failure of Projects. PM being SME him/herself will lead him to micromanage everything at his end and in result he will loose focus from project management activities. But on other end, If project manager doesn't know about that domain and best management practices related to that then he will be totally dependent on SME , which is also not good to have. I believe as Project Management Practitioner, we should have at least management knowledge of latest trends & technologies to help ourselves to be more effective.

From IT point of view, at this moment, I didn't manage a project that interfaces with 3D printers or IoT...as Anupam noted before, maybe in few years.

Drones!

Actually we are designing a cocoa value chain project In Haiti. Cocoa is cultivated in the hills. So we are contemplating using drones for data collection for the farms of our partners. With drones, we will also get tractability and good data for monitoring. This will reduce the cost of supervision and the time it entails.

I can see it slightly impacting the Project Management Role in line with what Sergio Louis Conte has alluded. There will be Subject Matter experts to implement these technologies. The Business Analysis and Project Management Skillset will still be largely the same. Yes there is a requirement for BA and PM to have more knowledge of these technologies at a very high level (not necessarily delving into the detail)
