I am studying for my pmp exam,.... I have a question... When I am using the critical path method ... But the tasks are shown in days not in weeks.... the next ES (Early Start) has to be one day more than its predecessor ? ... I have seen many examples ... but In weeks .... and for this, the ES keeps the same to the next task .... I apreciate your help in this... I cannot find online an example with Days. thank you .

I am not sure I totally understand you questions Robinson but Days or Weeks, it should not make a difference in terms of the general concept.

I can't figure out exactly what is meant by: " the next ES (Early Start) has to be one day more than its predecessor".

Thank you for your response...

Well.. It means that I saw an example in days..... and a task ends in the 14th day .... so in the next task which depends on it starts (ES) in the 15th day ... In an example with weeks ,,,, the next task keeps the same number, If one task ends on the 14th week the next one starts on the 14th week too.

I am sorry about my English.... lol.

But I am trying to get another example online to check it out in days but I cannot find another one to compare.

thanks again for your response.

It depends on the question and activities Robinson but usually end of a task should be the start of the successor unless otherwise noted.

The problem in days maybe because the task end on the 14th day end of the day and the next task start on the 15th morning.

This is a comprehensive discussion about the topic, including leads and lags and different precedence types (e.g. Finish-to-Finish):
http://www.mosaicprojects.com.au/PDF/Schedule_Calculations.pdf

I would recommend feeling comfortable with Finish-to-Start with no lags/leads before checking that document out....

Robison, are you preparing the certification in English or Spanish?

I've prepared in English, but some key points as EMV or Critical Path, I've looked for the explanation in my native language...sometimes is easy to understand. There are tons of videos in you tube in Spanish with clear explanation.

Good luck!
