Are the 35 contact hours required to be done with a PMI REP or not? One can do the course/required hours with any trainer provider of Project Management ?

Thanking you in Advance for your feedback on the same.

It is preferable to be done through a REP as it is easier to be verified. However, I believe you can take the course / required with any training provided as long as they are qualified to give that training - I am not too sure about this so it is better if you check with the site customer service for confirmation.

I know of many people who took university courses in project management that are not REP but yet their hours counted as far as Ive understood.

Hello Ieonie,

One can satisfy the education requirements by completion of courses, workshops and training sessions offered by one or more of the following types of education providers:

1. PMI Registered Education Providers (R.E.P.s)
2. PMI chapters
3. Employer/company-sponsored programs
4. Training companies or consultants (e.g., training schools)
5. Distance-learning companies, including an end-of-course assessment
6. University/college academic and continuing education programs

The following education does not satisfy the education requirements:

1. PMI chapter meetings
2. Self-directed learning (e.g., reading books, watching instructional videos or sessions with coaches or mentors)

For more detail please refer PMP Handbook -

Hope this helps.

Good Luck!!
