I don't see what was offensive. Certificates and degrees like the PMP and the MBA are commodities that only verify that you studied and pass an exam, or for things like useless MBAs, that you spent even way more money and passed a bunch of exams. Saving Changes...

As the holder of a very low number PMP, I am not sure the rampant proliferation of PMPs has helped the value of mine, either. I also have a Master of Project Management degree, and will say that I learned significantly more through the course of that degree than in studying for and passing the PMP when it was a proctored paper bubble-sheet exam.
After stating all that, I enjoy the profession, but resent the tone of the article, but since I find the majority of "news stories" to be wrong or demeaning to someone, I'm going to go on about my business. Saving Changes...
I am not sure I agree with the article. I do not think it is a fair comparison of a MBA and PMP Certification, especially when the focus of the MBA is not on project management. Why an either or... they can compliment each other. Saving Changes...
