Working as volunteer at local chapter or during conferences/ training can also get you PDUs as giving back

There was an organization in New York City called New York Cares and it allowed you to volunteer in different areas of interest. It would be cool if there was a way to give back in each city whereby PMs could use their skills to help communities.

Hello Aejaz - I received Work as a Practitioner PDU's for my job as a Senior Project Manager for a large Healthcare Corporation. I was asked to enter my title, the provider, and give a detailed description of what I do in my everyday job for 2016. It took some time to enter all the information, but I received a quick response from PMI with the approval. The response from very timely and gave me the Giving Back PDU's I needed.
How many PDU's we may claim against two years of project management experience post passing the PMP exam?

Creating content counts whether it's on a public forum like here or for your own internal audience, as long as it's for the use of practitioners. So if you have an internal Community of Practice, or you work in a PMO, you can develop a presentation for that community too. If you go to the trouble of doing that, it isn't too difficult to upload it to SlideShare (assuming no proprietary content) and then share it with the project management community at large too.

The others are right - the handbook is the best place to start. When you look into it you'll see the are lots of opportunities to take here.
Hi Elizabeth,

Are you up for guest posts in your site? I would love to contribute in some way

Regards,

Sandra

Question: I believe attending meetups, where you exchange information on "Project management" is counted towards "Sharing knowledge" ?

OR it would be only counted if you towards "Sharing knowledge" if you "Present" some information in that meetup group?

What are the ways to get PDUs under 'giving back to the community' if you are not a member of PMI? Can I provide the time spent in mentoring new team members on technical and project management areas? In such a case is it like 1hr spent = 1 PDU? What documents I need to archive as a proof for the same?
Please clarify.

Join your local PMI chapter and attend any sessions that help you attain new certifications. Mostly I watch recorded webinars to fulfill most of my PDU needs, ProjectManagement.com is the best =)
