I'd like to propose a new badge granted to financial/in-kind donors to the PMIef. If this is the first time you've ever heard of the PMIef (PMI Educational Foundation), I'd strongly encourage you to check out the amazing contributions they are making worldwide to the greater good using project management discipline and skill building at pmief.org.
My rationale behind my proposal for a badge for PMIef donors is twofold, first is to simply increase awareness among the PM.com community of the existence of PMIef, and second is to provide a gamification-based incentive to actively support the PMIef with a financial or in-kind donation. I'm sure someone at the PMIef would be more than willing to provide a data link to PM.com of non-anonymous donors in exchange for the free marketing and potential increased donor reach.
I'd love to hear feedback from the community on this idea! Saving Changes...

PMI recently had the PMIEF open day and announced it here where many took part in it including myself and it was my first time to get to know that such foundation exists and they gave a badge for all attendees and contributors.
On the other hand, to increase awareness, proposing another badge might be a good idea but I am nit too sure of the donor badge is the right idea as some people would like to remain anonymous. Saving Changes...
Donor badge linked to a financial donation...sincerely I'm not a fan of the idea.
From my point of view, is great have badged linked to your assistance to events, or when you'll write a blog, or give back with a webinar.
But, financial? phew, personally when I make a donation (doesn't matter the organization), I use to remain anonymous (as Rami noted), because sometimes I can give more and other less.
And when I've read your post, my mind pictured some kind of badges as PMIEFDonor5, PMIEFDonor10.. where the number will be linked to the amount....and I didn't like the idea. Saving Changes...
I agree with Maria. I get enough phone, email and home sollicitations. These badges would wind up being a back-handed sollicitation for the fun. Saving Changes...

Wow! These are some interesting perspectives! I guess I'm of the other view. When I decide to lend my support (volunteer, financial, in-kind, etc) to a cause I'm passionate about, I love to share my membership/involvement (but certainly not the actual amount or extent) and spread the word to help the cause. I think of it like getting a tshirt with sponsors plastered all over it when I join a Habitat for Humanity build. I'm proud to wear that tshirt.
The gamification reference wasn't to compete with ever increasing donations! Sorry if that's how it reads! Just thinking about how people like to collect existing badges on the site.
I can see and appreciate your point on the anonymity and having an opt-out for the badge would be a good idea. I appreciate the feedback and the alternative viewpoint...thank you! Paul Saving Changes...
It will be a badge showing you a potential donor for other cause.
I prefer to choose then being ask.
If the badge was to reflect that you have done action in the sense of PMIef, then it would make sense to me Saving Changes...

I like Vincent's idea of having a badge to show participation, not necessarily a contribution. To be honest, why not a badge just for simply signing up with the program and newsletter? This would keep it consistent with how other badges are earned.
Good conversation though. I'm still waiting for my CKM badge :)
