Setting Expectations for Client Responsibilities

All,

We are in a services organization (not IT), and are looking for best practices (especially documented best practices or boilerplate language) focused on setting expectations for client responsibilities in a consulting engagement. Specific examples would be: 1) appointing a client project manager; 2) reviewing all documents on a timely basis; 3) confirming all project changes in writing; and so on.

Thanks for any help,

Dot Allen

Hi Dot,

Good that Michael could draw your attention to some examples.

In my experience these are always useful references to commence project planning.

But I would also recommend that you specifically look at client responsibilities after a full analysis of work breakdown, risk analysis, quality planning, communication analysis, procurement and contract analysis. All of these should generate client requirement specific to the project.

Call me old fashioned as well, but the one I would be particularly aware of would be the holistic business risk analysis.
