Dear Sir/Madam,
1- After reading the "Project Management Institute Practice Standard for Work Breakdown Structures", I was wondering if you could help me in finding the definition of a word which has confused me.
In Chapter 1, Introduction, it has been mentioned that "The project's work in terms of DELIVERABLES and further DECOMPOSITION of these DELIVERABLES into components. Depending on the decomposition method used, it may also define the project's life-cycle process in terms of process DELIVERABLES appropirate to that project and organization."
The problem is that I can't understand what does DELIVERABLE mean in this case, the definition and a comment on it for me is highly required.
2- The other Item which is confusing me is, what does tangible & measurable mean exactly in this book?
3- That would be a favor if you can show me a Work Breakdown Structure -WBS with DELIVERABLES and a WBS with NONDELIVERABLE Elements.
These questions' answer would help me a lot in understanding many parts which I have not; by not knowing the mentioned matters.
Would that be possible to estimate the Project's Exact Completion Time by using Earned Value Management -EVM?
I mean how would that be possible to consider between Critical & Non Critical Paths?
Thank you in advance.
Your prompt response is highly appreciated.
Best regards,
Nargess Sadr

1) In basic form the deliverables should be labeled as nouns, thus making them tangible and measurable. They can be touched, are real or concrete. Breaking them down into the tasks (components), which should be labeled as verbs, shows what must be done to create the deliverable.
2)Addressed above.
3)A WBS without deliverables is not a WBS, it is a to-do-list.
4) EV+CPM is a very good way to manage and schedule a lowest cost or cost and time constrained project.
