Hi all,

I'm used to using PeopleSoft or SAP for managing project timesheets and doing project costing. Now that I'm with a small company I'm wondering about open source alternatives. Anyone ever used any? Specifically interested in time capture and reporting.

Cheers,
Doug

Hi Doug. Not sure about open source, but have you looked at Timeslips and Timesheets Professional? http://www.timeslips.com/

Searching at sourceforge.net would be my next thought.

Hi Doug,

I was just reveiwing some of the posts, and thought you may want to take a look at the free SDK included with the time tracking package from dovico. Their web site is http://www.dovico.com

I have been playing with the SDK for a while and it works well. We also customized their application to our company (I have a .Net developer, so it was very easy).

It's about 100.00 user one time fee.

Hi Doug, have a look at Soft Empire WR Time Tracker. It is an open source, web-based work time tracking system. More info per the following URL. http://www.softempire.com/wr-time-tracker-downloads.html Just our of curiosity, do you see small companies looking for open source Linux solutions..? Our experiences with small companies shows both a preference to work with Microsoft centric IT infrastructure and application products and a reluctance to implement Linux, open source, and other lower cost and free alternatives. At IBM's urging and much appreciated support, we have looked at developing Linux products. But the lack of any customer interest and demand has prevented us from further investment. I would be interested in your experiences and advice. Cheers. Mark Perry, VP of Customer Care, BOT International
