Looking for success tips, sample plans, and any tidbits of advice for a major enterprise system integration project. Project is to customize and implement a 3rd party enterprise level asset management system, where the assets themselves are the core of the business. Transaction volume between operational segment of business to the asset system in excess of 12 million p/hr. Legacy system is mostly CICS/Cobol on IBM OS390/DB2. The new asset system is J2EE/Oracle. Redesign & mapping of 1,100+ CICS/Cobol programs, 700+ DB2 tables, and, oh yeah...let's change the business process, throw in some PeopleSoft, AS400, SQL, and Access DB integration points as well. We're only about knee-deep into the analysis, and have already conservatively identified more than 56,000 man hrs. for conversion alone. More fun? There is virtually no in-house skillset on Oracle or JAVA... ANY advice appreciated! (Running in the other direction is not an option.)
