Not considering integration and proliferation of point solutions is the glaringly obvious one... But surely there are others you may have come across??

There is only one thing that could minimize and/or avoid architectural risk. The old premisse: low coupling and high cohesion is the driver. After that, you can use what you need according to your environement considering the internal environment is the whole organization. Do not thing the product from the technical perspective only.
