In my agile role, there is greater emphasis on being a facilitator. Things that I would have done as a PM, are now handled by the Product Owner:
* Taking the lead to define scope
* Managing stakeholders
* Coordinating releases
I am more involved with the team, on a daily basis. While I do not influence how the team writes code, it seems more acceptable for me to coach them in regards to project processes.
There's probably more, but these are the first few things that come to mind. Saving Changes...

I think Aaron said it all, to add, an Agile Manager follows adaptive lifecycle of project implementation and working on planning and carry out tasks and revise the plan quite often than the traditional PM. Saving Changes...

Is there a plan to alter with Agile? Isn't responding to change more important than following a plan with Agile? Saving Changes...

What I will write is not bacause your post Denise. Please do not take it in this way. The worst thing that we can do as a coummunity is to use buzzwords like Agilesomething, Traditionalsomething, etc. It does not exists and jeopardizes the work of people like me that are working into Agile environments from the very begining when Agile was born or for people that are looking for a job as project manager. What exists is project management performed in quit different environments like Agile, Lean, Sequential, etc. Second, if you are talking about Agile for example, you have to understand what Agile really is. Agile is not IT or software related only, Agile did not born with the Manifesto, Agile is not a process or method. You can find the genesis (at least formal genesis) in USA DoD NSF/Agility Forum (1990, I was part). While I am working in my seventh initiative implementing Agile I have performed conferences inside the PMI World Tour for years and I have wrote articles for PM Network on it. Saving Changes...

Forgive me, but isn't project management simply project management? If I am a GC (General Contractor) and use one bag of tools on one job, then a different bag of tools on a different job, am I not still a GC?
I agree with Sergio on the buzz words. Its tough because they have become so prevalent. If you look around on job postings, you will see it.
Aaron also brought up good points, which connects to what it seems the general consensus is here ...
Thanks for the article links Sergio. Saving Changes...

My question was related to the buzz words that seems to be a conflict for some. Saving Changes...

Now i understood. With basement on some qualith approach you have life cycle models (adaptative and predictive), life cicle process based on those models (waterfall belonfs to predictve, iterative belongs to adaptative), methods based on life cicle process(scrum belongs to iterative sdlc belongs to warteefall), software tools that support the methods. So, you can mix all this stuff in the way that best fits for your next initiative. Where agile, lean, PMI projectanagement approach, etc are located? While is a matter of debates most of the reserches put them in the basement as an aproach for quality. So, you will perform project management following some guideline (PMBOK fof example) and in using quit different life chcle model, process and method. Saving Changes...

In the organization where i am working now the same project manager is assigned to initiatives that use scrum and at the same time to other using our own waterfall based method. But always we follow PMI way. Saving Changes...
