Would love to hear experiences with Project Kick off Meetings from the members .
Have you seen them go as expected ? Set the scene , give an overview of the project, take down questions and actions, scope gets more clarity
Have you seen them go nasty or pear shaped with a key stakeholders missed out or not happy ? scope gets murky? You come out of the room thinking "Why did I get this project?"

Hi Deepesh, agreed with much of the advice above! It is often helpful to have clear objectives and an agenda supporting these objectives in place. Check out some sample agendas and more meeting tips in this free ebook, https://www.brightwork.com/resources/effec...ct-meetings-101

Reiterating what Mayte and Liana said (and I think Anthony implied): the kick-off is NOT the time or place where stakeholders are learning about the initiative for the first time.

I use kick-offs for team building/alignment, but the primary purpose is to get senior management to make a very public and emphatic statements of support and understanding.

The communication throughout the project is key to success in my eyes - communication with all stakeholders, gathering information and expectations, planning of the project etc all take place before the kick off meeting and are critical to ensure everyone is on the same page and you understand everyone's expectations prior to the kick off. The kick off should really be an easy meeting if all is prepared and communicated throughout the prior phases of the project and just be a lets get this kicked off and ensure we are all on the same page - as well as set expectations for status updates, change requests etc.
