Hi there! I work in a research lab and am trying to implement project management practices in a lab setting to make things more efficient. The problem I am facing is that each project (which we define in our world as a collaboration with another researcher) is very face paced. It kicks off with one phone call and we are up and running. There isn't much planning time beforehand. We have around 150 different collaborations that I track at once, plus operational aspects such as grants, contracts, and HR, that someone else handles. They all intertwine, however, so I need to be aware of basically everything that is happening so I can keep the project on track.
I am wondering if anyone else out there does project management in a research group and how you are handling it. I would love to get a working group together to talk best strategy. Saving Changes...

Hi Merissa, It is an interesting question. If the process the you go through for all researches is the same then probably you can treat it as if it is a process rather than a project. Just an idea. Saving Changes...
