Safdar,

Where do you work? I work for a company that supplies an enterprise project / portfolio management solution.

I'm in the midst of evaluating tools as well, although I'm focusing strictly on web hosted tools. I have a project team that is split between San Diego and Manhattan, with no VPN. So all communication and sharing is currently being done via email. There are a lot of online tools out there that call themselves "project management" software, but to my surprise most don't even handle the most rudimentary handling of tasks, such as creating summaray tasks and defining predecessor relationships. These are the tools I've identified so far:

@task - www.attask.com

Vertabase Pro - www.vertabase.com

Project Insight - www.projectinsight.com

The list is surprisingly small. Can anybody add to this list.

Hi,
I am also looking for a PM intelligence tool. It should be a tool, which combines PPM (project portfolio management) with the project execution.

I was already working with Planview and it seemd to be not userfriendly enough. The reporting capabilities were not sufficient as well.
Does anybody have experience with Kintana?

Regards,
Gerhard

Gerhard,

I work for a company that supplies one of the leading project portfolio management software applications. We're IBM Business Partners.

Which company do you work for? Could you provide me with your email address, so we could talk offline?

Thanks,

Kal

Dear Gerhard

You have asked a question asking for specific product nomination, so that opens up the response rules. One of the threads below offers a number of alternatives that are recognised in the market place.
Pacific Edge Project Office is one that I am personally familiar with and has great standing with a number of very credible users.

Safdar, any results from your analysis? I have found some information on the internet relating one type of PM/PMO software to another but no detailed analysis of the various technical and subjective criteria other than what has been published by Forrester and Giga.

I am getting ready to deploying MS Project Server 2003. If you can stand the price, I am not sure it gets any better for complete project, program and portfolio management activities. Virtual teams are also a breeze with Project Web Access that allows teams to collaborate using the internet, no VPN necessary. Oh, and of course proper training is manditory to be able run this application.

I would include Maestro-EPM to the list. Check them out at www.maestrotec.com They would hit all the bullets you pointed out and are very cost effective
