Project Manager of Big Data project

Hello All,

Could you please shed some light on how a project manager can fit into a big data project and what roles,technical knowledge the manager should have for handling such projects

To manage a big data project you should be familiar with technologies like Apache Spark, Apache Hadoop and SQL. You don’t need to be an expert, but the more you understand, the better. Having experience in Java, C or Python would be good as well. Conceptually, you should have an understanding of data visualization and statistical and quantitative analysis.

Saurabh:
You should have a core understanding of BI technologies, ETL processes, the nuances of big data, databases technology and methods, industry knowledge for the specific project like Healthcare, security and more. Tell us more about "how can a project manager fit in"? Is this a role you want or have been assigned to?

I am not currently assigned into this role, but surely I am planning to move into such roles in near future. I am thus preparing myself for this role and responsibility. Currently I have enrolled for a Hadoop training (comprising of Scala and Spark as well). however want to know from a realistic view as to what knowledge the big data project manager should possess to succeed.
