Project management tools could be very useful for live events. Take the recent Oscars presentation, for example. Each award presentation could be listed as a task in a scheduling tool, and each task could be linked to a risk management tool. This would enable someone to instantly know the risks that might occur at different times throughout the night, and which strategies should be taken if an incident occurs. These risk strategies could be adjusted instantly in response to actual occurrences throughout the evening. Saving Changes...

Hi katelyn,
Since your work has to do with live events. I am shire a tool like Microsoft Project plan can help you out with breaking things down to an individual task, that way you can track who is working on what tasks, when tasks should be completed and if there are any dependencies between tasks. Going deeper you can see which resource is over allocated and act accordingly. And if you add resources cost you can see how much is being spent. Saving Changes...
A live presentation need to be define (initiate), plan, go live (execute), control and close.
Also the presentation need to be prepare, get all the site ready, I see that as a project by itself.
The full event is a program!
I short a live production is a program, a sequence of projects, so yes it can be manage using PM tactic. Saving Changes...
