'Getting More' by Stuart Diamond is an excellent read which will give you insights in art of negotiation. Taking care of emotions and perception management whom you negotiate with are two key aspects and how to come out of them as win win, that requires perseverance, problem solving approach combined with interpersonal skills.

Kathrin, I used to have a mentor that used to say, "you can't argue with the truth". In negotiation, truth is your weapon.
Be confident,
Stick to the facts,
State your case clearly and concisely,
....
Wait, time is your best ally.

'Getting to Yes' is one of the better books on negotiating that I have read, but just reading about negotiating will not really prepare you for it. While not specifically about negotiation, Crucial Conversation training (VitalSmarts) can be helpful in this area.
