Hi Nasrullah: I like stand up meetings as well. How often do you have stand up meetings vs. sit down meetings?
Lori - The whole team meets every day for a quick status update limited to between five and fifteen minutes and we call it the daily huddle. Each member answers the following three questions:
1) What did you do yesterday?
2) What will you do today?
3) Are there any impediments in your way?
The stand-up is not meant to be a place to solve problems, but rather to make the team aware of current status. If discussion is needed, a longer meeting with appropriate parties can be arranged.

I like how you are running your quick status daily stand up huddle. Your 3rd question is probably where you get the most traction! Thank you for sharing your process.

That is really a good one! I am always disappointed when I hear phones go off in the meeting or notice people checking their phones. We should be engaged in the meeting to be most efficient and productive. Great one!

Be on time. If you must arrive late do not expect the group to " catch you up". This can be done on your own time.

Hi Wendy: I agree - that is very frustrating! I found something I have been trying that seems to work well. First of all, I make it very clear in the invitation to the meeting that being on time is the expectation - but, I work in a hospital setting and there are times when patient care must come first. So, I show the agenda/minutes on a large projected screen during the meeting as I update the minutes - in front of everyone for all to see.......so, if someone comes in late, they can quickly read and catch themselves up to where we are with no interruptions. This process seems to be working in our setting.

Hi Sungjoon - I really like that one too! How far in advance of meetings do you send out your agenda? I always try to send out 24-hours in advance if possible.
You're right. Meeting agenda should be communicated before meetings held. My point is that memebers should actively participate in discussion. Well knowing agenda is the first step to lead active and effective discussion.

Hi Sungjoon - I agree with you 100% - everyone should understand their role/responsibility and participate in the discussion. I love it when team members come prepared and openly communicate and share in meetings. A good agenda sent in advance with expectations clearly stated helps make that happen.

One of my favourite ones is respecting each person's opinion. Without that respect, people shut down and don't contribute.

Yes, Stéphane - very important! Respect really is at the core of everything - having respect in meetings and for one another is the foundation for project success. Without respect, nothing will go as well! You are right!
