ISO 31000:2009 Survey

Thank you for taking the time to read this, as part of our MSc in project management we are conducting a group research project titled ‘Risk Management: Has standardisation resulted in organisations adopting a tick box approach to risk management’. We’re focusing mainly on ISO 31000:2009 as it covers a topic that affects all our organisations.

Though ISO 31000 provides effective principles and guidelines that work when implemented and maintained in accordance with the international standard, companies don’t always provide enough training to allow effective implementation. It’s been our experience working alongside some organisations who have adopted ISO 31000, that they only adhere to the standards as a paperwork exercise and lower management have had little to no formal risk management training.
