I'd say that is ever changing, dependent on the project, challenge at hand, or even the day.

So maybe that could be the most challenging aspect; being able to adapt - to ebb & flow as needed. Like pointing at a floating target while on a row boat, both moving with the waves and current.

Project manager most difficult task is to handle people and get work done by them, some project managers do it by being great charismatic leaders and some through putting stress on employee by making different guidelines.

Delivering project related bad news can be challenging for project managers who inherited their positions versus being groomed for management roles, and who worked alongside the people that they’re now overseeing.

Stakeholder engagement is also a challenging aspect especially with large geographically separated stakeholders.
