I have created a Project workplan in MS-Project 2003.
1) I created the WBS --> Entered Duration Estimates --> Applied Dependencies.
2) I kept all my tasks as fixed duration type since I have been given the deadlines for the tasks.
3) I then assigned resources to tasks. Some tasks have a single resource assigned and some have multiple resources assigned to it. Also, the same resource is working on multiple tasks during the same time period (in parallel). I did not get the details of the resources units (%) for each task that is being worked upon parallely. Obviously, I have overallocated resources.
4) I want to level the resources in such a way that MS-Project understands that my tasks are fixed duration and adjusts the resource units and work equally among all tasks.
For e.g Task A, B, C start on 10/4 and end on 10/8 and are assigned to resource R1.
When I perform 'Level Now' operation can Project adjust the Resource units for the three tasks to be 33.33% as all my tasks are fixed duration and thus resolve the overallocation. Saving Changes...
It seems to me that the easiest way to accomplish what you are attempting is to use the Resource Usage view. Show the "Assignment Units" and "Start" and "Finish" Date collumns. It is manual process but it should go quickly as the tasks that need to be adjusted are right there at your fingers tips. Saving Changes...
