Does anyone have a strategy/approach to ensure implementation is a success? i.e. a top ten list perhaps.

I don't have a full list, but I can tell you from painful experience that it is critical to assess the state of your customer data *before* implementation. Anything you can do to improve it will give you better results from the tool, and better ROI. Saving Changes...
