As any other project you have been assigned. Key is not foget the basement about estimation. My recommendation is take a look to Barry Boehem`s Cone of Uncertainty that was originally created for software but it works on any type of project. Saving Changes...

You treat this project like any other project in terms of project management plan. However, it will require more planning and risk assessment but as Sergio said, the basement is the same. Saving Changes...
As Rajasekar mentioned: Rolling Wave planning.
I would also recommend you to structure schedule, deliverables and milestones to ensure continuous delivery and integration. In this way, you will be able to test assumptions, assess risk and notice issues earlier maybe at the cost of additional planning effort and tracking at the beginning.

I like your comment. Concepts of iteration and integration are ones of the most important concepts of which importance are hardly practically recognized .
If possible, break it up into distinct deliverables, each with its own schedule that can be rolled up into a master schedule. As mentioned earlier, rolling wave planning will likely come into play because you may not be able to plan the schedule for all deliverables from the beginning. If you do use rolling wave planning, include a roadmap that identifies when you expect to be able to start planning the future waves. Rolling wave planning exposes a lot of uncertainty in a project that can work against you if you have stakeholders (like I often do) that want concrete dates as early as possible.
