You still have lots of time. There is no specific time as far as I am aware but the 6th edition is scheduled in the 3rd quarter of 2017 and then the exam will take few months before it changes.

I don't expect to see exam base on PMBOK 6th before the first quarter of 2018.

Sharique, you can still appear and pass the exam. There is plenty of time. Changes may be from 2018.

Good luck!!

Here's the latest from PM Prepcast:

Which version of the GUIDE should I use to study?
That's easy:

Are you taking your exam before Jan 1, 2018? Use PMBOK® Guide 5th Edition.
Are you taking your exam after Jan 1, 2018? Use PMBOK® Guide 6th Edition.

Wasn't that easy?

Thanks a lot, Sharique. Appreciate that.

Meanwhile, we can answer the original question exactly:

Anyone who is sitting for the exam before March 26th, 2018 will receive the exam based on 5th edition of PMBoK Guide.
From 26th of March 2018 on the exam will base on the 6th edition.

For further and more detailed information what will change you may refer to the following articles:

You will be able to tackle for exams with the use of PMBOK 5th, if you schedule before 26th of March 2018, otherwise prepare for 6th edition.

Sharique -

Couple of factors to keep in mind:

1. If your exam application gets audited, you need to leave some time before the March 26 deadline for completing the audit.

2. The closer you get to the deadline, less seats will become available at testing centers as there is likely to be a rush from procrastinators.

3. In the unlikely event that you fail on your first attempt, you'd want to leave some time to enable you to rewrite the exam.

All said, I'd suggest not waiting till later than mid-late January...

Earlier the better, the available dates have already started to get cramped as all those who have been preparing for exam would like to attempt it from what they have been studying for weeks or months.
