Should you run when you hear any of these on your project? Probably not if you have the correct measures and controls in place, else you'd better follow the bomb technician.

Tactical , Strategic and Interim are the scary words that I am used to . An interim application developed 10 years ago which was to be replaced with a more "strategic" solution and was meant to be "Tactical" 10 years ago is still in use.

What you describe is the 'implement a work around' that we will 'fix later' approach :) As you stated, this is very rarely done. Nobody ever tracks the cost of a) maintaining such an interim solution and b) lost efficiency over time.

What you describe is the 'implement a work around' that we will 'fix later' approach :) As you stated, this is very rarely done. Nobody ever tracks the cost of a) maintaining such an interim solution and b) lost efficiency over time.
