I am leading a training effort of 17 line level business managers who are managing business projects for the company. Most of them have only managed one internal project. The focus of the training will be lessons learned, project close out and change management. I am struggling with finding an activity for them to do in teams during the workshop. Just wondering if anyone had any possible suggestions. I dont want to speak the entire time and I am looking for ways to make it more interactive. Was hoping to have them complete a sample project activity of some sort. Maybe an emotional or emergency type project scenario. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance to all who respond. :)

Hi Wendy, one of my favorites is the classic egg drop project. Break your group up into 4 teams each with a project manager. Allow them to approach the exercise as a project. This exercise can be done in an hour to 90 minutes and can serve to provide a lively discussion of project close-out, lessons learned, and especially change/issue management. Here is a link to one of many descriptions of the exercise and what you need that is on the web. http://www.wilderdom.com/games/descriptions/GreatEggDrop.html It is really a lot of fun and can complement just about any PM training effort. Good luck. -- Mark Perry, VP of Customer Care, BOT International Saving Changes...
