I have been following the growth in software solutions for the B2b space including Ariba and webmethods. Assuming that each of these players are delivering the transactional environment for businesses to establish connectivity and e-markets, do you forsee third party solutions that will deliver BI in a box focused on b2b intelligence?

Absolutely!!! And in fact if you read some recent articles about traditional BI vendors such as Sagent and Informatica - they are already forming partnerships with companies such as Ariba and CommerceOne. Wherever there is information to be analyzed, you can bet the BI vendors will be there. Especially with the size of this marketspace. Stay tuned - I'll do a column on this topic!

Yes, this will be huge! According to Forrester Research, B2B e-business is projected to be a $1.7 trillion market by 2003. Check out the following URL from Informatica's website: http://www.informatica.com/press/press+rel...00/04102000.htm It talks about how PWC took a $30 million equity stake in Informatica and plans to train some 300 consultants to take advantage of this huge growth opp. I cannot imagine the other components of traditional commerce and traditional BI will ever go away. Rather, BtoB will be yet another set of analytics a company will need to integrate in its Bi strategy.
