Currently our company is using MS Project 2002 standard edition. On Monday, the project management team-leads take the hours worked and applies them to the project. After this is completed, the project information is dumped into an excel spread sheet, and a macro is applied to it, in order to make “this weeks” time sheet. This time sheet is posted on the web. Employees then add their time to these sheets, and on Monday the process starts over again.
While this process works, a full day is required to update each employees time worked on various projects. The company is not going to get MS Server for us, so I’ve been trying to figure out e-mail only collaboration. The software says it’s possible, but when I get it to send out the emails, it comes with the attachment “MSPJ.MTM”. I’ve done a lot of searching, but the file extension doesn’t appear anywhere. After looking at the file in a text editor, the only text I could make out was the location of the file on the network.
Can anyone tell me:
Is Email collaboration possible with standard edition and no server?
What program is used to view the MSPJ.MTM file?
What form of collaboration do you use if you’re not using Server?
